What do you mean by add an apk file?

And add it to what?

What are you trying to do?

Are you running android?

When you run p2p streams it downloads them for you and tells you where it stores them.Just click on them to install them

Or get them from the playstore

To install apk file just click on it and it will install

Just navigate to it with whatever means you have.

App installer, file manager etc and click on it and it will install

No,apk file is an installer file for android, nothing needs zipping

By file manager i mean a file manager in your android system, not xbmc
Or is there not an app installer.Or anything you can navigate to where the apk file is

Its just the same as your android phone.Click on the apk file and it will install

Forget xbmc for the time being, you are trying to install apps into your android system so do it from there

Hi this is the problem my android box came pre installed with xbmc on it only.So I cannot access Google play to install the apk like i do on my android phone. So I am royally screwed in that I only have xbmc to play with. Unless you know a way on this box to acess android apps as well as xbmc.i emailed the people who I bought the box off they said a lot of there customers just like a box pre installed only with xbmc.I just find it a total pain in the ass.

Is it running linux and not android?

If its android and its booting straight to xbmc, then it must be a launcher set to do that. What happens when you exit xbmc? (not reboot, just exit)

On the power button it gives me only three options "custom shutdown timer" ,"powerdown" and "reboot" ,the only way
way to shut down is the powerdown button.

As stated though,if you are running linux and not android then you cant install apk files, they are for android

If you want an android machine, you need to install android on it instead of having it flashed with linux

Is it definately running linux and not just got some launcher set to go straight to xbmc?

According to that then its android, not linux

If you cant get in to the android part of it to remove the launcher that sends it straight o xbmc, then the only other option you have (if you want the full android functionality),its to do a fresh start and load your own xbmc on it (unless anyone else has any other ideas?)

But i have no clue as to what firmware/build etc goes with this box,as its sold by a seller so maybe best get in touch with them

From the homescreen where you have programs,do you not have a section in there that says android apps?

Or do you not have an android button on the remote?

Should be able to acess android from either programs or from a button on the remote, then you can get rid of the launcher thats booting straight to xbmc

This is from Matricom Midnight version wiki may be worth a try?,

From “XBMC”

1) Choose Programs->Android Apps
2) Choose “Settings”
3) From the left, scroll down to “Apps” and press “Ok”
4) Choose “XBMC” from the left and press ok
5) Select the option that applies below
Clear Data: This clears the data and cache for XBMC and makes it run like new
Clear Cache: This clears the cache
Clear Defaults: If XBMC replaced the home launcher, this resets the launchers
