Apple 2 TV Stopped Working - Flashing White Light, Won't Boot

Last night my Apple TV2 appeared to be working fine, and I was able to use with XBMC to watch content. This morning I noticed a flashing light on the unit and turned on the TV to see what was going on. The unit just booted to the Apple logo then nothing, the lights flash and nothing. The thing appears to be rebooting, but it is stuck in an endless loop of nothingness.

I've had this unit for 60 days and I made sure the apple updates where turned off.

Am I toast or is there something I can do? I bought this unit already jailbroken, non tether kind. Now I know a little more about how things work, I try and fix it if a troubleshooting protocol is available.

He mentioned its untethered, try to hold menu and the volume down button at the same time for a hard boot, apple devices do that when they dont get booted for a while
No... He said "non tethered kind" which is questionable. And I haven't seen the apple logo when it hasn't been booted for a while. He can give what you suggested a try, but it sounds strange for that behavior.

I recognize that I am a newbie at this, so I might say things the wrong way, but I am sure of what I bought and how it behaves. It is/was definitely the untethered/non-tethered boot kind of jailbroken device. I owned it 60 days. During that time, I unplugged it many times, and plugged it back in again. Before last night, it started fine and I could use XBMC.

Correct me if I am wrong, but from my reading if I have a tethered jailbreak, it won't boot to the jailbroken state unless I perform a tethered boot.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try this. Now it is stuck on the apple logo with a flashing light. So maybe I don't have a brick, but something is surely not right.

I decided to try my hand at getting back to what I had so I downloaded Seas0npass. I used this to update the firmware to 5.0.1 that would permit an untethered jailbreak (I think I was at 4 something previously). It was really hard to get the unit into DFU mode, but I won eventually. After that I used the command line to install XMBC. Now I am trying to get back to my favorite add-on, 1Ch**nel.

Thanks for the reminder. I got it downloaded successfully from the the fusion source, and I am now back in business. I watched one episode of a show I liked on it.

In a way this has been a good experience. It forced me to learn about jailbreaking, how to do it myself. I won't be needing to buy a jailbroken apple 2TV if this one does fail, I can now do it myself. Also, the person who sold this to me enjoyed porn and stills from the videos he watched showed up sometimes when I would exit out of XBMC. Now I have a completely clean box, no porn, just what I installed and watched.

Thank you for all the help XBMC Forum.

I think the url to it is down don't forget to change it
