I have (the first of many LOL) questions concerning adding XBMC to an Apple 1

on the directions here it says get ATV USB Creator
then launch ...leave settings, press Create Using, wait

Then it says to unplug Apple Tv Device...

One question is; where was plugged in prior to this unplugging???

Then it says to plug it back in after plugging in thumb drive (first)

Another question; is the Apple box connected to Tv or Computer while thumb drive process???

Thanks, very new to apple 1

Ok
got apple 1 in today and went to try atvusb Creator and got failed out (read)

Creating USB Flash Disk...
umount_disk settling delay (10 seconds)
partition the target disk
Unable to partition device: Started partitioning on disk1
Unmounting disk
Error: -10000: Could not unmount disk
partition_disk failed
Failed! (0:00:22)

It started to work and then failed out
I tried again and same thing

Next question

will the hub wizard work with EDEN?

There are only 2 options under XBMC -Launcher;
XBMC 10.1- Dharma and
XBMC 11.0- Eden

I tried Eden and the hub wizard says dependencies not met

If your doing xbmc on ATV1 IT REALLY SHOULD ONLY BE A LINUX BUILD:

OPENELEC
CRYSTALBUNTU

Many add-ons dont work on Eden and when we update our add-ons for Gotham Eden will be left completely unsupported

I am trying crystalbuntu but wonder if I need to remove Eden first?

I got the crystal to work on pc but when i plug into apple 1 and replace cord, it does nothing (EDEN remains)

[I agree addons wont work at all with eden}

Because you install the software. You should check YouTube. There is wealth of knowledge that you need to catch up on regarding these basics

You are spinning your wheels.

If you want crstalbuntu use Mac Install here

If you choose Openelec use Mac Install Here

This will load Linux XBMC Frodo, follow the instructions from either site. Once done the ATV will boot straight to XBMC, no Apple software. You do not need to do anything else.

If you are using HDMI go to Settings > System > Audio Output
Near the bottom change the sound to HDMI, there will be 2 spots.
Off the top of my head I cannot remember the exact wording.

Ok here you GO

I did the broadcom card and loved it! But! You! Will! Lose! WiFi!
Actually prefer Ethernet and still have not tried WIFI

OK, new problem LOLOL
How do i shut down box without unplug???

when i go to xbmc control, xbmc reboots
if I go to 'Power sytem off, it shuts down xbmc but
rpcbind words come on screen saying ' Restart with rpcbind-w' but I am not sure (other than pulling the plug) what to do now?
(yes- flash is removed)

Also, when I plug in box, it boots to xbmc (which is not a problem but....how do i get to home screen, or i should say, shut off xbmc??
Just note that i have no use for home (apple) screen but just wondering if i can get there??

No need to power off. Most of these boxes are designed for low power consumption and standbye mode. Navigate to scree savers select what you want and enable power conervation
