Just had a quick question regarding XBMC on the pi and Audio Output settings.

I am using OpenElec 3.1 on my pi with the HDMI cable going into my receiver/amp. My receiver also does the video switching for all my sources. My receiver is also DTS and Dolby Digital compatible.

Now my question is, should I set my XBMC settings to 5.1 channel output in the Audio Output settings? Or should I leave it at 2 channel? I assume these settings don't mean anything to me since my amp takes care of the way the sound outputs correct?

Therefore should I see a bit of performance gain on my pi if I change the output to 2 channel as opposed t0 5

My 'guess' would be that if you want to listen to the audio in 5.1DD or DTS , and your reciever/amp/speaker system can play it then you should select the 5.1 output.

I understand, though i may be wrong, that the xbmc audio engine will output through the HDMI stereo if you select 2 channel and 5.1 DD and DTS if you select those options.
