Hi;

I have recently used atvusb creator (1.0.b13) on Apple TV 1. (After Factory reset, and using image 2Z694-6013-013.dmg from Apple).

I have no entries in Manage Plugins.

When I try to Launch --> XBMC I get the error:

"Error: Cannot Launch XBMC/Boxee from Path".

Help!!

(PS I previously had XBMC running and LOVED IT! I had to reset Apple TV to factory for a display problem...)

OK. So spent some more time Googling...

Finally found some help in Firecore forum. (I have been happy customer of Firecore, & ATVFlash for 3 years. But latest upgrade has broken ALL functionality. No response from their support. So moved to atvusb creator.)

Fix as follows:
*************************************************
Finally I solved the XBMC-installation via a couple of simple commands.

I started an SSH-client and connected to the AppleTV via user=frontrow, pw=frontrow and

then I just executed the following command-sequence:

wget http://mirrors.xbmc.org/releases/osx/xbmc-11.0.dmg
wget http://atv-xbmc-launcher.googlecode.com/svn/tags/ul-info/scripts/xbmc-11.0_update.sh
sudo sh xbmc-11.0_update.sh xbmc-11.0.dmg

...and then it worked immediately!

Thank you very much for taking time to post your fix for others to benefit! I love the "googling" you did. It's always great to see someone take the initiative to learn and grow, and then to share it, that is what this forum is all about! THANK YOU!

There is a simpler way:

Just go into XBMC -> Downloads ->and choose XBMC 11.0 - Eden

Once installed all works fine.

Yes. I found that too having just down my first ATV1 today.

XBMC -> Downloads has either 10.0 Dharma or 11.0 Eden.

I don't understand this bash lark though. Does using atvFlash actually install Linux?

I am trying to follow in kjxn footsteps and am trying to clone an ATV2 add-on install onto the ATV1.

Have added the folders but does anyone know how to change ownerships of even if it is required?

I tried this:-

sudo chmod 755 -R /mnt/Scratch/Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/XBMC

but it errored so I put an underscore between Application and Support and it accepted it. Whether it actually did anything I have no idea?

Done. If you have any tweaks, they would be immensely appreciated.

It appears to be running but some buffering on odd things.

I have moved away from the ATVFlash build of XBMC as I am experiencing nothing but errors.

I have installed Crystalbuntu and used the config utility by Sam Nazarko but I can't seem to get my head around some of it.

It has clearly installed XBMC because I can see it in the directory file structure on the ATV1 but it will not boot into XBMC.

What code do I need to issue in PuTTY to get a standard ATV1 with hard drive and original video card in? Does anyone here know?

I have searched all over and the information being presented to me is not at my level.

Do I need to install code such as this with a clean Crystalbuntu install?
