Menu screen/poster/notification remains on top of playing video

Have you been through this before!

THE ISSUE:

Display playable menu items (they play when selected)
invoke XBMC default keyboard control 'i' (INFO)
Select Play button
Urlresolver resolves URL to playable
My addon plays video
BUT THE PROBLEM: the menu screen remains, along with the poster, notifcation and a few bits and bobs! After about 10 minutes the menu screen etc disappears and the video is still playing.


QUESTION:

How do I get rid of the menu items, poster, notification etc when the video begins to play?

I believe the conclusion of this when others brought it up was that it's an XBMC issue and nothing we are able to touch, a proper fix needs to be done by the guys at xbmc.org

Easy solution - don't play from the info menu
