Kodi is currently using 5Gb on my fire stick.
The device is telling me I need to free up space.
How do I go about doing this in Kodi.

thanks

I cleared the cache etc. , but now I can't exit Kodi. Nothing happens when I press the "exit" button.

Use the firestick home button on your fire stick, then go back to manage addons on your fire stick click on kodi then force close, then clear cache on the firestick menu of kodi, then launch kodi

If this was a pre loaded stick, I would recommend you remove Kodi completely and start fresh. You likely have tons of crap you have never used and don't need. A fresh start will give you what you need.

More than likely, it is your accumulated thumbnails that are causing the issue.

The TVADDONS Maintenance tool, however, does not provide for the clearing of the thumbnails which may be why you can't solve your issue using that tool alone.

You can do it manually through ES FILE MANAGER... or you can simply do a Fresh Install of KODI and your addons.

Good Luck!

I think I will uninstall kodi from the Fire Stick and do a fresh install. Could you point me to a resource for doing this ?

Download Kodi for Android from kodi.tv/downloads
You will also need ADBFire to sideload it to your stick from your computer. I believe there are other apps to help with the sideload thing. Once installed, follow the tutorials in the Blog (top of the forum) for fusion and addon installer.

Download the latest Kodi APK file from here.
https://kodi.tv/download/

Save it to a location you can easily access on your computer

Turn your Firestick on

Select Settings

Select System

Select Developer Options

Select Apps from Unknown Sources and turn ON & Select ADB Debugging & turn ON

You will now see a warning message regarding unknown sources. Select OK you can turn off unknown sources later but we need it on to install Kodi

Now we need to find the IP Address of your Fire Stick.
Select System

Select About

Select Network and make a note of the IP Address

Now we need to download and install adbLink:

Selecting the one you are using
either
Download adbLink for Windows
or
Download adbLink for OS X 10.7 or higher
or
Download adbLink for Linux

the link for adblink
http://jocala.com

Once you have downloaded and installed adbLink open it

Select New

In Description give your Fire Stick a name (kodi)

In Address type the IP you made a note of earlier & select Save (you can ignore the rest)

Select Connect

You should now see the IP Address of the Fire Stick listed in Connected Devices

Select Install APK

Navigate to the location of the Kodi APK you downloaded in the first step and select it

You will now get a notification asking it you would like to install the APK. Select Yes

You will know if the apk is installing as you get a little green notification in the bottom right of the window

You will get an Installed notification when complete. Select OK
Kodi is now installed on your Firestick
