Hi all
Has anyone managed to get openVPN installed into codesnake's port of OpenElec 6.0 for the MX boxes?
My goal is to
I've tried add ons from metal kettle and also Brian Hornsby but no joy so far.
When I SSH into my box I just get

OpenELEC (unofficial) Version: 6.0.0
tellybox:~ # cd /storage/.config/vpn-config/
tellybox:~/.config/vpn-config # ls
ca.ipvanish.com.crt pass.txt
ipvanish-UK-London-lon-a01.ovpn
tellybox:~/.config/vpn-config # openvpn ipvanish-UK-London-lon-a01.ovpn &
-sh: tellybox:~/.config/vpn-config # openvpn: not found
tellybox:~/.config/vpn-config # openvpn ipvanish-UK-London-lon-a01.ovpn
-sh: openvpn: not found
[1]+ Done(127) openvpn ipvanish-UK-London-lon-a01.ovpn
tellybox:~/.config/vpn-config #

So it seems I'm missing openVPN still.
Tried every guide I can find...

Sorry, wasn't clear. Meant version 4 of the repo. "unofficial addon repo for open elec"
I now have OpenVPN by Brian Hornsby installed (Ver:2.1.0) But it tells me its unable to connect to the VPN management interface.
I have the cert file the .ovpn file and the .txt file in the /.config/vpn-config folder ok
I also found a openvpn addon by Stefan Saraev (ver:6.0)
This tells me the openvpn binaries are located in /.kodi/addons/network.openvpn/bin/openvpn
However this Haddon won't launch as it says it is a "console only addon" which I guess means only for koi on Xbox?
nevertheless if the binaries are installed why would I still get "openvpn not found" when try to connect to vpn via ssh?
any advice greatly appreciated

It should connect via ssh if the openvpn binary I'd installed, however there have been problems with it.....
You can check by just by logging in via ssh and typing in openvpn

In regards to the second question You would need to tell Brian Hornsby addon where to find the openvpn.bin file..
Open settings in Brian's hornsby openvpn addon.
Then change the path to.
.kodi/addons/network.openvpn/bin/openvpn

If your still having problems I would uninstall the openvpn addon altogether and use this one.......
http://openelec.tv/forum/unofficial-openelec-addons/79148-openvpn-lrusak-repo
With this version you don't necessarily need Brian's addon as it has its own options.
I've not tried it though as I've moved away from OE but if I ever go back that's the method I would use 😉

Thanks for your advice, but alas still no joy.
Couldn't get the Irusak repo installed (incorrect structure)
However with the openvpn binary file from the Stefan Saraev addon installed when I SSH in and run openvpn I now get "Permission Denied"
I guess thats a bit better than Openvpn not found!
I've checked pass.txt file its good
The Certificate file is present
and the edited .opvpn is as follows

client
dev tun
proto udp
remote lon-a01.ipvanish.com 1194
resolv-retry infinite
nobind
persist-key
persist-tun
persist-remote-ip
ca /storage/.config/vpn-config/ca.ipvanish.com.crt
tls-remote lon-a01.ipvanish.com
auth-user-pass /storage/.config/vpn-config/pass.txt
comp-lzo
verb 3
auth SHA256
cipher AES-256-CBC
keysize 256
tls-cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA:DHE-DSS-AES256-SHA:AES256-SHA

I guess I'll trawl the Ipvanish forums to see if they can shed light
Thanks again
