I have a windows 10 PC connected to my Yamaha RX-v673 receiver via HDMI. I have passthrough set up in my settings. Recently notice that alot of the HEVC H2.65 files are labeled as being 6 channel audio but my receiver shows only as PCM. Any ideas?
I assume those 6ch HEVC are PCM multi channel to begin with, as far as I remember the decoding light on my Sony AVR lights up to confirm this. I also use passthrough so any AAC multi ch are transcoded to Dolby 5.1 and PCM multi ch is handed over as is.
To double check while playing one of them, I would press O on your keyboard to view stream info. If this shows multi ch while your AVR displays PCM and speaker layout it should be fine.
Double check the option to transcode to dolby digital is enabled in the sound settings on kodi, I'm guessing those hevc files probably have a 6ch aac sound steam and my yamaha amp world also show pcm until I enabled that transcode option, then it showed dolby digital 5.1
