http://openelec.tv/get-openelec/download .... Scroll to the bottom and get the download for Raspberry PI's

Unzip it and should get the Openelec Image

http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/ use this software next put your sd card in open the software locate where you downloaded and unzipped your openelec download

Press write ignore the msg about corrupting your card wait for it to finish

Load it in the PI and follow the setup instructions it should walk you thru setting up your region wifi etc

tried this on a brand new 8gig card and it says not enough disc space, any ideas?
I understand how frustrating this can be. Take a look at the actual space on the card, even though it is an 8gig, it will not actually have 8gig available. Your card needs to be 7.41, or above, formatted. There are a few brands out there that are under 7.41 formatted and will give you this message. Download SDformatter (Google it), if you haven't already, do a fresh format and then check the space. I suspect this is problem. If not, then SDformatter will give you a fresh format with free'd space to try again :)

did all that & did a full format on a brand new card & i suspect that I have one that is less than 7.41, its a TDK branded card, the frustrating thing is that I have seen 8gig cards pre installed on ebay for less than I paid for the card as I was to impatient to wait I purchased it at my local supermarket & paid £10 for the thing, am I better of buying a 16gig card would that work, I know it sounds obvious but I have no idea about these things

I always use 16gb. There's a guide to expanding it so you can use the remaining space after install. That extra 7gb can come in handy for a few movies if you need it
