Why restore and not uninstall when upgrading

When reading directions on how to upgrade I noticed it said to factory restore 17.3 ...and finally install 17.4 as usual. Why not not uninstall 17.3 and then install 17.4. Is there a difference? Is something saved by keeping the reset 17.3? Just wondering.

And more importantly THANK YOU Tvaddons. You guys do amazing work.

I also install over top of my existing version of Kodi. The only exception to this is when there is a major update. In that case, I remove my Kodi completely and start from scratch.

Ive found that installing over my current build results in 17.3 running quite sluggishly on my windows10 pcs so if you haven't got huge media libraries configured then I would personally go with a fresh build
