What do you mean ?
When you press back some fanart appears ?
If so, you will have to take control of whatever window you are using and add controls for onaction.

Its ok its me not being clear:D

Ic*f*lms for example, your looking at the list of movies under recently added.

as you move up and down the list of movies, and if you metadata enabled as you move up and down the list, the thubnail of the movie changes and if you have fanart available as you move up and down the background changes, now what i would like to do is as you move up the list and you get to the ".."button the background just goes black, I would like to give it some fanart just so you do not have a black screen

Oh, the parent folder option. Sorry mate.

Remove the option.

It's under appearance settings, disable 'Show parent folder items'.

No need for icons etc..

You could. You need to edit your views...

.. it really depends on the Skin you use, but something like:

1. find the background image control for fanart

should look something like like this: (I highlighted the revealing part ;) )

Code:
<control type="image">
          <include>Dimensions_Fullscreen</include>
          <include>Fanart_Fade</include>
          [COLOR="#0000FF"][B]<texture>$INFO[ListItem.Property(fanart_image)]</texture>[/B][/COLOR]
          <colordiffuse>55AAAABB</colordiffuse>
          <aspectratio>scale</aspectratio>
        </control>
then make shure You put the image You want to use for "BackButton" which we will call backfanart.jpg in this dir:

/userdata (find out where it's located on your OS)

once you did that copy the code you found above and paste it right under the original like this:

Code:
<control type="image">
          <include>Dimensions_Fullscreen</include>
          <include>Fanart_Fade</include>
          <texture>$INFO[ListItem.Property(fanart_image)]</texture>
          <colordiffuse>55AAAABB</colordiffuse>
          <aspectratio>scale</aspectratio>
</control>
<control type="image">
          <include>Dimensions_Fullscreen</include>
          <include>Fanart_Fade</include>
          <texture>$INFO[ListItem.Property(fanart_image)]</texture>
          <colordiffuse>55AAAABB</colordiffuse>
          <aspectratio>scale</aspectratio>
</control>
then add the following:

Code:
<control type="image">
          [B][COLOR="#FF0000"]<visible>!StringCompare(ListItem.Label,..)</visible>[/COLOR][/B]
          <include>Dimensions_Fullscreen</include>
          <include>Fanart_Fade</include>
          <texture>$INFO[ListItem.Property(fanart_image)]</texture>
          <colordiffuse>55AAAABB</colordiffuse>
          <aspectratio>scale</aspectratio>
</control>
<control type="image">
          [B][COLOR="#FF0000"][COLOR="#FF0000"]<visible>StringCompare(ListItem.Label,..)</visible>[/COLOR][/COLOR][/B]
          <include>Dimensions_Fullscreen</include>
          <include>Fanart_Fade</include>
          [B][COLOR="#FF0000"]<texture>special://masterprofile/BackButton.jpg</texture>[/COLOR][/B]
          <colordiffuse>55AAAABB</colordiffuse>
          <aspectratio>scale</aspectratio>
</control>

Enjoy!

Yep, though you would have to over-ride everyones' skin to include that in a plugin.

The default/720p/ whatever.xml would need to be included and then the "includes.xml"
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Skinning

Not an easy option mate, LOL.
I didn't know it was for a plugin :) oops!
my bad.... should have considered which forum i was in... :(

You could avoid includes.xml by rewriting the entire code.. but nonetheless If it uses standard views it won't work.

But In addons like Na*i-X, which uses its own windows it could work...
