Solved YouTube 5.3.13 seems to be the latest working version

Many add-on's rely on the YouTube video plugin to work, however some people have released "updated" versions that do not work at all. If you allow the add-on to auto-update, and have some repositories installed that have copies of the broken updated versions then your YouTube based add-ons will not work. If your version of YouTube is above version 5.3.13 then you need to remove the repositories that claim to have updated versions, or disable auto-update for the YouTube add-on.

Actually 5.3.12 is the latest stable version, which is in the official Kodi repo.

The addon.xml for your version states <addon id="plugin.video.youtube" name="YouTube" version="5.3.13~alpha3" provider-name="jdf76, bromix">

The version you are linking to is an alpha version, so I'm sticking with the stable version :)

I agree with you though that there are probably other versions floating about, just another reason why having tons of repos on your system is never a good idea.
