As of earlier today, Kodi is available for download to the Xbox One! This is a sort of flashback to the early days of Kodi, when it was still called XBMC, short for Xbox Media Center. As the years passed, other platforms gained popularity and the device that Kodi was founded upon was all but forgotten. We’ve tested Kodi on the Xbox One and it’s looking very promising. However Kodi for Xbox One is still in an early release phase, and as such, your mileage may vary.
Installing Kodi to the Xbox One was easy: launch the Xbox Store, lookup Kodi, and press get. Once installed, we launched Kodi and were able to add the Fusion Installer (and a few other) sources as usual. Most addons we tried didn’t work very well, but we were able to get a few titles to play properly through CDN powered links in one of the more infamous ones. None of the sources that require pairing work yet, and we couldn’t bridge Real-Debrid yet either.
Bottom line: we’re extremely impressed with what we’ve seen so far, Kodi on the Xbox One is going to be huge! It still needs a bit of work, but it’s certainly not far from the finish line. Team Kodi deserves a serious standing ovation for this one. Since it’s installed through the Xbox Store, you’ll automatically receive updates as they become available so you’ve got nothing to lose by getting in early. Things are looking great for Kodi in 2018.
