Enabling InputStream Client for RTMP Streams in Kodi (17.1 Krypton and Above)

If you’ve recently installed the latest version of Kodi, you might have noticed that live streams aren’t functioning as well as in previous versions. This is because the official Kodi developers have for one reason or another decided to not enable RTMP streaming support by default. We’re not sure why, but we’re going to walk you through manually enabling the InputStream Client for RTMP Streams in Kodi.

RTMP is a live streaming support protocol that is used by many live TV streaming sources. If you’re looking to watch live TV or sports streams of any sort within Kodi, this is pretty much necessary in order to do so. It’s beyond us why Kodi decided not to enable it by default, but we’re hoping that they will in future versions.
