Apple TV 4 is the newest device that Kodi has been ported to and is still certainly a masterpiece in progress. Kodi for Apple TV 4 is certainly not the easiest version of Kodi to install, requiring you to jump through a somewhat complicated sideloading process. The good news is that it doesn’t require a jailbreak. Kodi does run fairly well on the Apple TV 4, and we’re hopeful that it will become easier to install in the future.
The bad news is that unless you have a paid Apple Developer account, you’ll have to reinstall Kodi every week in order to continue using it on your device. This is due to free Apple Developer account limitations, and have nothing to do with Kodi itself. This makes Kodi for the Apple TV 4 somewhat less attractive, unless you already have the paid Apple Developer account.
Download Kodi for iOS
Download Cydia Impactor
Mac Users: Please note that if your computer says it can’t open apps from unknown developers, you should navigate to your computer’s System Preferences menu, then click on the Security & Privacy icon, and finally press the Open Anyway button.
Step 1: Login to the Apple Developer Member Center with your existing Apple ID (or create a new one) in order to activate developer privileges.
Please Note: If you don’t upgrade to a paid Apple Developer account beforehand, you’ll have to reinstall Kodi once every seven days!
Step 2: Connect your Apple TV 4 to your computer using the USB-C cable. Make sure that it is already connected to your television and powered on. If you see that iTunes has started, you’ll want to close it.
Step 3: Launch the Cydia Impactor application and verify that your Apple TV 4 box is detected.
Windows Users: Do not use the Run as Administrator function!
Step 4: Unzip the Kodi IPA tvOS ZIP File that you just downloaded, then drag the tvOS IPA file into the Cydia Impactor window.
Step 5: Input your Apple ID email address when prompted, then press the OK button.
Step 6: Wait a few minutes for Kodi to install to your Apple TV 4 box.
Step 7: You’re done! You may now launch the Kodi app for the first time on your Apple TV 4 box.
Remember that if you aren’t using an Apple ID that’s associated with a paid Apple Developer account, Kodi will have to be reinstalled once every seven days, quite annoying.
